The Lord Is My Light and Strength
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Key Verse:
Psalm 27:1 (NLT) – “The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?”
Reflection:
I’ve heard this beautiful scripture turned into a song by Joshua Aaron—and let me tell you, it tugs at the heartstrings every time. But honestly, the verse alone does the same. It’s one of those Scriptures that just wraps around your soul like a warm, steadying hand.
I’m human. And far too often, my emotions get carried off to some awful places. Fear creeps in with the unknown. Sadness sneaks in during the waiting. But then I come back to this: The Lord is my light. When I can’t see past my own face, when everything around me feels confusing and uncertain, this is where my focus has to be. Not on what’s going wrong, not on what’s missing—but on the light.
It’s almost like looking up into the night sky on a dark, cloudless night and seeing the stars and the moon shining so clearly. I can’t help but fix my eyes on them. That’s Jesus—the Light of the world. When everything feels dim and shadowy, He shines. His path is sure. His way is clear.
He’s not just the light—I love how the verse also says He is my salvation. That means I don’t have to be afraid, not even when I feel shaky or unsure. I can look to Him for how to walk, how to live, and even how to hope again. Because not only does He shine through my mess, but He also shields me. He protects me and gives me courage.
Even now, when I think about the future—where it might lead or what might come—I can breathe a little easier. I see that He provides shelter—an everlasting shelter. He is my refuge, my strength when I am weak, and my salvation when fear tries to take over. He doesn’t just guide me through this life; He secures my eternity. In the book of Revelation, we’re reminded that there will be no need for sun or moon, because “the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light” (Revelation 21:23, NLT). What a powerful truth—Jesus is and always will be our light, our strength, and our salvation, forever.
Prayer for Today:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my light when I feel lost and my strength when I feel weak. You are my salvation and my shelter. Help me to focus on You when fear and worry try to take over. Remind me that You are always near, always guiding, always protecting. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Just Before You Go:
The next time fear tries to settle in, let this be your anchor: The Lord is your light and your salvation. And in Jesus, that light is eternal. He is the Light of the world (John 8:12), and when you follow Him, you’ll never walk in darkness—you’ll have the light that leads to life.
