Thankful Ripples: Recognizing God's Hand in People Around Us

thanks forever banner (1)

Acts 28:15 (KJV) And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

When I find myself alone in the face of challenges and uncertainties, it can really get me down. But being surrounded by those who care about me? That's where I draw my strength. Sure, I'm thankful for all the basics that keep me going, but let's not forget to appreciate the people around us. For it is God who moves the heart of men, and I thank God for doing so many times in my life.

Let me share a story that hits home from Acts 28:15. Paul, in a tight spot after getting arrested in Jerusalem, is on his way to plead his case before Caesar. During this journey as a captive, he's got limited time with his fellow believers. Fast forward to when he finally reaches Rome, and I can imagine the weight of his situation bearing down on him. Even though the text doesn't spell out his feelings, his reaction says a lot.

So, Paul survives a shipwreck, sets foot on land en route to Rome, and what happens? His fellow believers in Christ make the trip to meet him. Their love and support spark something in him—courage and thanksgiving. It makes me think, in our toughest times, we can be grateful that God sends people our way to lift us up and give us strength.

Take a moment to think about the folks that our Creator has sent your way to pull you out of a tough spot or help you through struggles. It's pretty amazing how He moves people's hearts to fulfill His purpose. We shouldn't take that for granted. And hey, think about your own heart—how God stirs us to reaches out to help others. That's something to be thankful for. So, here's to appreciating the people who've got our backs and recognizing that it is God who makes a real difference. In all of this, let's thank God for looking out for every need and care in our lives.

Dear Father,

There have been countless moments when I've sought comfort, and each time, you've sent others to strengthen and support me. I recognize that it was your hand moving the hearts of friends, family, and even strangers to lend a helping hand during my troubled times. I'm endlessly grateful for your unwavering care and love. As I reflect on your goodness, I pray that you would use me as a vessel for your glory, igniting thanksgiving for you in the hearts of others.

In the name of Christ Jesus, I pray, Amen.
