Saved to the Uttermost
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
— Hebrews 7:25 (KJV)
Reflection
Men have been making sacrifices to the LORD since the beginning. Even before the Law of Moses was given, we see that priests existed. Melchizedek stands as an early example of one who served as both priest and king. From the earliest days, there was an understanding that approaching God required mediation.
Under the Law, the Israelites depended heavily on the priesthood. There were sin offerings, offerings for atonement, and sacrifices for individuals and for the nation. Access to God often meant going to the priest with the proper offering at the proper time.
I often think about those who became unclean through circumstances that were not intentional. Something as simple as sitting where another had been unclean, or a husband touching his wife during her time of the month, could make someone ceremonially unclean. What if the priest was far away? What if there was no temple nearby? What if there was no offering to bring? They must have felt helpless and uncertain, longing for restoration but unsure how to obtain it.
Hebrews answers that longing with breathtaking hope. Jesus is not limited by location, time, or human weakness. He lives forever. He does not offer repeated sacrifices. He offered Himself once and for all. Because He lives, He continually intercedes for those who come to God through Him.
Jesus is the High Priest who never leaves, never grows weary, and never fails. He saves completely, not partially. He saves to the uttermost. What once required constant access to priests and offerings is now fulfilled in a living Savior who stands before God on our behalf.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You for sending Jesus as our perfect High Priest. When I feel unworthy, distant, or unsure how to come before You, remind me that Christ is already interceding for me. Help me to trust fully in His finished work and rest in the salvation You have provided. Draw me closer to You through Him each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before You Go
Have you ever considered what it means that our High Priest is not like the others who came before Him? The priests of old were human. They sinned, they needed sacrifices for themselves, and eventually, they died. Their service ended, and another had to take their place.
Jesus is different. He lives forever. He is without sin, and His priesthood does not pass to another. When He intercedes, He does so with full authority and perfect compassion.
When you come to God, you are not trusting in someone whose work will end. You come to God through a living Savior who is always speaking on your behalf before the Father. Let this truth steady your heart today. You are not forgotten, and you are never without an intercessor.
