Today's Scripture

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
— Psalm 145:3 KJV

Reflection

Throughout history, one could pick out their favorite person who they would title great. Maybe it was a king of a country, a president, a teacher, or even a religious figure. But those titles are often based on personal opinion and worldly achievements. At times, the honor given to people can quietly overshadow the honor due to God.

Psalm 145:3 brings our attention back where it belongs. The greatness of the Lord is not measured by human success or recognition. His greatness is unsearchable. It cannot be fully grasped, compared, or surpassed. Unlike human greatness, which fades or fails, God’s greatness stands eternal, perfect, and complete.

True praise flows from recognizing who God is, not from elevating what people have done. When our hearts are aligned rightly, praise becomes a natural response to His unmatched glory, faithfulness, and power.

He is due far more praise than we could ever offer. There is nothing He cannot do, nothing that exists apart from His creative hand. All that is seen and unseen was formed by His will, and every moment is sustained by His power. Even our very breath comes from Him. Each heartbeat, each new morning, and each act of mercy is a testimony of His greatness. When we praise God, we are simply responding to what is already true. He alone is worthy.

Today's Prayer

Lord, You alone are great and worthy of all praise. Help my heart remain focused on Your glory rather than the praise of people. Teach me to honor You above all else and to speak of Your greatness with humility and reverence.
I praise You for Your power, Your faithfulness, and Your mercy. I praise You as Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign Lord. All that I am and all that I have comes from You. May my life continually reflect praise that is pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Before You Go

As you go about your day, let your praise be intentional and sincere. Remember that God revealed His greatness most clearly through Jesus Christ, who came in humility, obedience, and love. Let your gratitude for Christ shape how you speak, how you serve, and how you worship. When your life points to Jesus, your praise becomes a living testimony of the greatness of God.

Take time to reflect on where your praise is most naturally directed. Consider what captures your admiration, your attention, and your words. Praise is not only spoken in worship but revealed in what we value and pursue. As you fix your heart on Jesus, allow your praise to move beyond words and be seen in faithful obedience, quiet trust, and a life surrendered to Him.

May our hearts remain in awe, knowing that the unsearchable greatness of God will always exceed our understanding, yet never fail to draw us into deeper reverence and praise.
