God's Faithfulness in Times of Doubt – Matthew 28:20
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

There are moments in our faith journey when we don’t question who God is—but we do question what He will do. Will He show up? Will things ever change? Will the pain lift, the need be met, the direction become clear?
I know for myself, over the years—especially during hard seasons—I’ve experienced times of doubt. Not in God’s existence, and not in the truth of Jesus Christ, but in whether He would act for me. I doubted if my circumstances would ever change. I even doubted His love at times, wondering if I had somehow disqualified myself from His goodness.
But here's the beautiful truth I’ve come to learn: God’s faithfulness in times of doubt is steady and sure. He doesn’t turn away when we waver. He draws closer.
Matthew 28:20 (KJV) – “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Psalm 46:1 (KJV) – “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
John 14:1 (KJV) – “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”
Doubt is a natural part of the human experience, especially when our circumstances seem overwhelming. It’s not that we doubt who God is or His power—it's the struggle to believe that He will act on our behalf. I've certainly wrestled with this in my own life. There were times I believed in God, but I wasn’t sure if He would change my circumstances or if His love for me was truly unwavering.
James reminds us that when we ask God for help or wisdom, we must ask in faith, without wavering (James 1:6). Doubt can be like a wave tossed by the wind, leaving us unsettled. But God understands our humanity. Even in our doubt, He’s faithful, ready to help us through. When we’re honest with Him—just like the father in Mark 9, who cried, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief”—God responds with compassion. He knows our weakness and still promises to be with us always, remaining faithful even when we struggle.
If you're wrestling with doubt today, don’t hide it from God. Bring it to Him. He is not intimidated by your questions or discouraged by your weariness. Pray honestly—He welcomes your heart as it is.
Read scripture even when it feels dry. Worship even when you don’t feel like it. Speak the truth even if your heart hasn't caught up with it yet.
And remember, even the disciples doubted (Matthew 28:17)—yet Jesus still entrusted them with His mission and promised to be with them always. That’s the kind of Savior we serve.
A Prayer For Today
Lord, You see my heart—every question, every hesitation, every fear. Thank You for being faithful even when I struggle to see or feel it. Remind me that Your presence isn’t dependent on my feelings, and Your love doesn’t waver when I do. Strengthen my faith and help me to rest in Your promise that You are with me always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before You Go...
Have you ever doubted that God would move in your situation? You’re not alone. Take a moment today to journal your doubts—and then write a truth from scripture beside each one. Let God's Word remind you of His unchanging faithfulness. Just as He was faithful to the disciples, He will be faithful to you. And if this devotional encouraged you, share it with someone who might be in a season of questioning, too.
