God Is Our Strength When Ours Runs Out
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

I was always considered the strong one growing up. I didn’t want to admit when I was hurting—emotionally or physically. I just bottled it up in front of others. Looking back, I think it was pride more than anything. A mask I wore to appear put together.
But I’ve lived long enough now to know better. I’m human—so very human—and my nature is, in fact, weak. There’s no use pretending anymore. And the beautiful truth I’ve learned is this: God never asked me to be strong without Him. In fact, He shines brightest right where I fall short.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV) –
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
There’s something powerful about coming to the end of ourselves. In those moments, I’ve had to remember that God is our strength—not our performance, not our pride, not our stamina. It’s uncomfortable, even painful—but it’s where grace begins to shine.
Paul, in 2 Corinthians, was given a “thorn in the flesh”—something that made him feel weak and dependent. And though he pleaded with God to remove it, God said, “My grace is sufficient.” Why? Because His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
We often want to be strong on our own. But Psalm 73 reminds us that even when our heart and flesh fail, God becomes our strength. He doesn’t just give strength—He is our strength.
Isaiah 41:10 reassures us: we don’t have to fear or be dismayed. While we may stumble, He’s the one holding us up. In the broken places, His power fills the cracks where we fall apart. That’s not weakness to be ashamed of; that’s the very place where God shows Himself faithful.
If you’re feeling weak today—emotionally, physically, spiritually—don’t hide it. Don’t let pride push you into pretending. Take your weakness straight to God.
Confess it. Be honest with Him. And then lean into His strength. Memorize Isaiah 41:10. Say it out loud when fear creeps in.
Let the world see that God is our strength when we are not. And if someone in your life is used to seeing you as the “strong one,” maybe it’s time to let them see the real you. You never know how your honesty might encourage someone else who feels like they’re the only one falling apart.
A Prayer For Today
Lord, I confess that I often try to handle things in my own strength. Forgive me for the pride that keeps me from leaning fully on You. Thank You for being my strength when I have none. Teach me to rest in Your grace and rely on Your power. Help me to walk through life with the freedom of knowing You’re holding me up. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before You Go...
Write down one area where you feel weak right now and surrender it to God in prayer. Then, share a word of encouragement with someone who may be struggling—let them know they’re not alone, and that God is strong for them too.
And if this devotional blessed you, feel free to pass it along to someone who needs to hear these words today.
Did you miss it? Don’t worry—you can still catch up.
