 God’s Faithfulness Through Life’s Seasons

There’s something about waiting that can really test our faith.

I remember spending the night at a friend’s house when I was younger, and when it was time to go, I stood by the window, anxiously watching for my mom to arrive. To a child, minutes feel like hours—and I was filled with a mix of sadness and worry. Would she come? Of course, she would. But in that moment, I wasn’t sure. I just wanted to be home, in my own bed, with my own toys, surrounded by what was familiar.

All these years later, I realize I still struggle with waiting. Whether it’s for a prayer to be answered, for clarity in a confusing time, or for change to come—waiting can stir up anxiety. But God reminds us in His Word that when we wait on Him, we are never forgotten or overlooked. This is part of God's faithfulness in times of waiting. Yet, we can rest in the faithfulness in times of waiting, knowing that He has not forgotten us."

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Waiting on God isn’t like waiting on a person. It’s not uncertain or risky. It’s not a gamble. When we wait on the Lord, we can rest in the truth that He is working—even when we can’t see it. And when we wait with faith instead of fear, our strength is renewed.

I think back to how I felt waiting on my mom—anxious and unsure. And I ask myself now: Did I trust she was coming, or was I letting my emotions take the lead? Sometimes we wait on God like that—spiritually pacing, checking the “window” for signs of His arrival, feeling forgotten when He doesn’t move as fast as we’d like.

But God says something powerful in Isaiah 49:15:

“Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.”Isaiah 49:15 (KJV)

Even a mother might forget—but God never will. That kind of faithfulness is unmatched. We can wait in peace, because His heart toward us is constant and sure.

Waiting Well

If you find yourself spiritually pacing—checking the window of your heart, wondering when God will come through—take a deep breath and remember: He hasn’t forgotten you. Just like my mom showed up that day, God always does, and He’s never late.

Instead of letting anxious thoughts take over, try shifting your focus. Start your day with a short prayer of trust, even if it’s as simple as, “Lord, I know You’re working, even if I can’t see it.” Keep a journal of the things you’re waiting on, and beside each one, write a scripture that reminds you of His faithfulness. Let your waiting become worship.

A Prayer for Today

Father, You know how hard it is for me to wait. My heart gets anxious, my mind races, and I start to question what You’re doing. Help me to trust You more. Teach me how to wait with faith, not fear—with hope, not frustration. Thank You for being a God who never forgets, never leaves, and never fails. Give me strength while I wait and help me see Your hand, even in the silence. In Jesus' name, Amen.
