Chosen and Cherished
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Scripture for Today
Ephesians 1:4–5 – “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.”
Reflection
It’s incredible to think that before the world was even formed, God had already chosen me. Not because I had done anything to earn it—because I hadn’t even taken a breath. He chose me out of His own goodness. That’s the heart of who He is: a God who loves, a God who delights in His creation, and a God whose mercy is not tied to our merit.
There is nothing in me so wonderful that He should love me—but He does. Not because of who I am, but because of who He is. And because I was made in His image, He looks upon me with delight. His plan from the very beginning was to redeem and restore—to make all things new, including me (Romans 8:22–23). I am chosen. I am cherished. And through Jesus, I am part of the future renewal of all creation.
It took me a while to realize I needed to see myself through God's eyes. When I'm focused on myself, pride creeps in. I start thinking too highly of me or trying to earn love that was never meant to be earned. But when I shift my gaze to the One who created everything—including me—I can finally see His love for what it is: steady, undeserved, and overwhelmingly kind.
Prayer for Today
Lord, thank You for choosing me before I ever knew You. Thank You for delighting in me, not because I’ve earned it, but because You are full of compassion and love. Help me remember today that I belong to You. Let that truth anchor my heart.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Just Before You Go
If today feels heavy or you feel forgotten, let this settle deep in your spirit: the God who made you calls you His own. You are chosen and cherished—and He isn’t letting go. And if you know someone who may feel the same way, share this devotional with them so they too can be assured of God’s love for them.
Did you miss it? Don’t worry—you can still catch up.
