OVERCOMING THE WORLD
Living in the World
In this world of ours, we are bound to encounter countless challenges throughout our lives. Each day, we are confronted with negative influences that strive to affect our faith and overall well-being. But what if I told you there's a way to conquer these external influences? As followers of Christ, we are destined to be overcomers. But what does that actually look like?
Is there any way for us to live in the world without feeling defeated?
As believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to walk in His footsteps, boldly defying the norms of the world. Yes, we may reside in this earthly realm, but we mustn't let ourselves be molded by its influence. It's important to recognize that as mankind, we are part of a larger system, where the devil cunningly manipulates human minds and behaviors. This is what we refer to as the world. This passage describes the very essence of the world and its allurements, shedding light on its true nature.
Do not love the world neither the things that it offers you. For when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. 1 John 2: 15-17

Let's see what we are faced with in this world.
All That is in the World
The Lust of the Flesh
The flesh, often referred to as the earthly aspect of human nature devoid of God's influence, encompasses our inherent human inclinations. Galatians 5:19 presents a vivid snapshot of some of the works or desires of the flesh.
When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are clear: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, reveling and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have told you in times past, that they who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
The Lust of the Eyes
Ah, the incredible power of our eyes! They grant us the gift of visual perception, allowing us to explore and appreciate the world around us. However, when our gaze becomes tainted by the lust of the eyes, things take a different turn. Picture this: it's when we find ourselves yearning and longing for things that are in direct opposition to God's divine plan. Whether it's a materialistic obsession or a covetous mindset, both are manifestations of this insidious desire. It's a fascinating reminder of how our eyes, a marvelous creation, can sometimes lead us astray if we don't guard our hearts and align our desires with God's will.
The Pride of Life
The bible states in Proverbs 14:12:
There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Beware of this treacherous path, my friend, for it may seem right and enticing at first glance, but the destination it leads to is nothing short of destruction and death. It's described perfectly in the notion of the "pride of life." Imagine living with an arrogant mindset, detached from God's guidance and sovereignty. It's a life where your own will reigns supreme. This path gratifies your selfish desires and appetites, creating a false sense of superiority. You may find yourself seeking worth and significance in material possessions or relying solely on your own knowledge and wisdom, elevating yourself above all else. Beware of falling into this trap, just as Eve did in the garden of Eden, enticed by the tree that promised wisdom.
Get ready to be empowered and encouraged, my friend! When we find ourselves facing the cunning schemes of the devil, there's one surefire way to overcome: placing our unwavering trust in the strength and might of the Lord. Here's the incredible news: sin has been utterly defeated through the sacrificial offering of Christ, shattering its grip on our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin, for the Spirit of God dwells within us, guiding our steps. And guess what? If we surrender to the leading of God's Spirit, we become His cherished children, empowered to conquer every obstacle that comes our way through the matchless victory of Jesus Christ. So, stand tall, my friend, for you are more than a conqueror in Him!
Step into the realm of overcomers and seize the victory that awaits you today!
