When You Think It Is Too Late
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
Exodus 7:7 (ESV)
"Now Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh."
Reflection
I have some news to admit. I’m aging. And with that comes a quiet awareness that some dreams might stay unfulfilled. There was a time I dreamed of opening a cozy coffee shop. Now, I’m not sure these legs could handle it.
That may be a small, earthly dream, but it reminds me of something greater. Moses and Aaron were not exactly young when God called them to one of the most significant assignments in all of Scripture. In fact, Exodus 7:7 tells us they were eighty and eighty-three when they stood before Pharaoh.
By that age, many today are slowing down, enjoying rest after decades of hard work. But for Moses, things were just beginning.
Looking back on his life, the first forty years were probably full of comfort and prestige. He grew up in Pharaoh’s house, untouched by the suffering of the Hebrew people. Yet when he sensed God’s call, he acted in his own timing—and it cost him another forty years in the wilderness of Midian.
Still, God wasn’t finished.
Just when it would seem too late, God called Moses into leadership. The assignment would be physically and emotionally demanding—walking long distances, climbing mountains, confronting power, leading an often rebellious people. Tasks we might assume are for the young. But God decided it was time.
If you’re wondering today whether you’ve missed your window, maybe you didn’t go into ministry when you had the chance, or life took a different direction than you expected, remember this: God’s timing is not ours.
He doesn’t need youth or energy or perfect circumstances. He wants a willing heart.
That truth comforts me deeply. On days when I feel my strength stretched thin or time slipping past, I remember Moses. I remember that when you think it is too late, it might be the exact moment God begins something new.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your timing is perfect, even when it feels late to me. Remind me that I am never too old or too far behind to be used by You. Help me release regrets about the past and trust You with what lies ahead. I want to be available, not anxious. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Before You Go
When you think it is too late, remember Moses. God called him not in his prime, but in his later years, just when others might have counted him out.
Have you been telling yourself it’s too late to serve, to speak up, to answer God’s call? What if now is the time God has been preparing you for?
Age, delays, and detours don’t disqualify you. God’s purpose is not limited by your timeline.
Did you miss it? Don’t worry—you can still catch up.
