Today's Scripture

"Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous."
— 1 John 3:7

Reflection

From the beginning, the church has faced the issue of falsehood. Some taught that they were not bound by the moral law, and, sadly, many years later, we still see these beliefs creeping in today. What is righteous is often brushed off as "good" or "normal," and that can be troubling. It grieves me when those who profess Jesus hold views that disregard the standards of righteousness set by His Word.
John, who lovingly called his followers "little children," was protective of them, warning them against those who would deceive. His tone was both gentle and firm, as he desired nothing more than to see them walk in truth. As followers of Christ, we must heed this warning too. Just as John was vigilant in protecting his spiritual children, we are called to keep watch over our hearts and minds.
It is easy to become complacent, to accept what culture or even well-meaning people say about what’s right or wrong. But the truth of God’s Word does not change based on opinion or societal trends. We are called to practice righteousness, not just talk about it or brush it off, but to live it out in a way that honors God.
In a world where falsehoods are often normalized, we must cling to God’s truth. Our actions should reflect His righteousness, not the standards of the world. There is a call for us today to keep watch over what we believe, what we practice, and how we live. Let us not be deceived. We are His children, and we are called to reflect His righteousness, just as He is righteous.

Today's Prayer

Lord, help me to stay vigilant in my faith. Keep my heart aligned with Your truth, and protect me from the lies that try to creep in. May my life reflect Your righteousness, not the standards of this world. Thank You for the example of Jesus, who showed us what it means to live in perfect righteousness. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Before You Go

Staying watchful over our hearts and minds is a daily responsibility. We are called to practice righteousness, just as Jesus is righteous. As John urged his "little children" to avoid deception, we must guard ourselves against falsehood and stay rooted in God’s truth. Let your life reflect His righteousness, not just in words, but in actions. Ask God to help you stay vigilant, discerning what is true and right according to His Word, and not be swayed by the lies of the world. In what areas of your life have you allowed the world’s standards to shape your actions? How can you align your thoughts and behavior more closely with God’s righteousness?
