Trusting God’s Provision
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
“And He commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts, but to wear sandals, and not put on two tunics.” Mark 6:8-9
Reflection
There is much to be gleaned from the account of Jesus sending out the disciples. But for me, the first thing that comes to mind is His provision. I’ve been in so many situations where I’ve been between a rock and a hard place, and I’ve seen His care in many different ways and at many different times. Yet, this moment of sending out the disciples felt different to me. It was not just about provision in a general sense. It was about being equipped for the task at hand, both for the work and for the care needed along the way.
Doesn’t He do that for us as well? We often think about the best ways to handle situations, making plans and preparing ourselves for every possible outcome. But then the unexpected happens, and all the tools of our planning can't help us. This is when we realize that God’s provision is not just about physical needs, but also about spiritual equipping.
When we are called to serve Him, He doesn’t leave us to figure it out on our own. He equips us for the work He calls us to. Sometimes, it’s not about what we think we need, but what He knows we need. It’s easy to focus on what’s missing or what’s not going according to plan, but God’s provision often comes in the form of what He gives us, whether it’s the right people, the right opportunities, or the strength we didn’t know we had.
Jesus told His disciples to take nothing with them except a staff. It wasn’t about relying on material things; it was about trusting God to provide exactly what was needed in the moment. When we trust in God’s provision, we step into a life of dependence on Him, knowing that He will equip us for whatever comes our way.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your faithful provision. You equip me for every task, and I trust that You will supply all that I need. Help me to rely on You, even when things don’t go according to my plan. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Before You Go
What area of your life are you relying on your own plans more than God’s provision? Reflect on His faithfulness and remember that He equips you for every good work. Trust Him to provide exactly what you need today.
