The True God and Eternal Life
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
1 John 5:20 (KJV)
"And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life."
Reflection
One of the apostles’ relationships with Jesus has always intrigued me. That person is John , the disciple who referred to himself as “the one whom Jesus loved.”
There’s a tenderness in his words. A quiet confidence that comes from closeness. Through John's eyes, we see Jesus' humanity. We see him reclining at the table during Passover, leaning against Jesus like a son leaning in to his father. We also see, through John’s writing, that this Jesus is not only a man, but God Himself.
For centuries, people have searched for God. Paul mentioned this in Acts when he spoke to the men of Athens. He said that perhaps they might “feel after him and find him.” And that desire to know and find God has echoed through every generation.
But now, through Christ, we don’t have to feel around in the dark. We can know Him. We can know the true God.
Understanding who Jesus is changes everything.
He is the Son of God. He is eternal life. And through Him, we not only come to know the Father, but we are brought into fellowship with Him.
No, I wasn’t physically at that table during the Passover. I didn’t lean against Jesus’ chest the way John did. But spiritually? I have. In worship, in suffering, in prayer, I’ve leaned into His presence.
There is something so reassuring about that. To know that I’m not searching anymore. To know the truth. To belong to the One who is eternal.
Today's Prayer
LORD, thank You for coming into the world and revealing the heart of the Father. Thank You for drawing me close, not just to know about You, but to know You truly. I want to live in fellowship with You, not from a distance but close, like John. Help me grow in understanding who You are and walk in that truth today. In Jesus name, amen.
Before You Go
Understanding who Jesus is doesn’t come through facts alone. It comes through fellowship.
You may not have touched His robe or heard His voice with your ears, but you can know Him with your heart. The true God has made Himself known — and invites you to draw near every single day.
Did you miss it? Don’t worry—you can still catch up.
