The House the Lord Built
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
Exodus 26:30 (KJV)
“And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof which thou was shewed in the mount.”
Reflection
Reading the early books of the Bible, with all the instructions on building the tabernacle and temple, and the detailed laws of sacrifices, can feel overwhelming. Let’s be honest: sometimes it even feels a little boring, especially when we don’t fully understand it or see how it applies to our lives today.
But every word matters, more than we often realize. Here, God gave specific plans for the tabernacle, and His people were to follow them exactly. Nothing was to be changed or done differently. We see the consequences of deviation in the story of Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu. They offered strange fire before the Lord, disregarding His specific instructions, and were consumed by fire as a result. This shows how seriously God values obedience and reverence in worship.
What about us today? We don’t have earthly tabernacles, nor detailed laws instructing how to bring offerings. But Scripture tells us something even more astounding: we are the house that the Lord built. His Spirit dwells in us. The offerings we give, whether in worship, service, or obedience, are spiritual oblations that honor Him. Our worship is to be sincere, in Spirit and in truth, directed entirely toward Jesus Christ, our living Lord, who dwells in us and guides us.
Every act of faith, every moment of obedience, every sincere prayer or praise, these are the modern-day “building blocks” of the house the Lord is raising.
Today's Prayer
Lord, help me to understand that You dwell within me. Teach me to offer my life as a living sacrifice, worshiping You in Spirit and in truth. Let every thought, word, and action reflect the care and obedience You deserve. Strengthen my heart so that I follow Your plans faithfully, not bending them to my own desires, but trusting Your wisdom above all. Let my life bring glory to You alone, a dwelling place where others may see Your goodness and be drawn to Your truth. In Jesus name, Amen.
Before You Go
Have you ever found yourself trying to do things your way instead of following God’s instructions? Whether in worship, in serving others, or in everyday choices, it can be tempting to take shortcuts, make adjustments, or rely on what feels right to us. Scripture reminds us, though, that God’s way is perfect. Just as He gave exact instructions for the tabernacle and for Aaron’s sons, He gives us guidance today through His Word and the Spirit.
We are not building a physical structure, but we are God’s dwelling place. Every act of obedience, every sincere prayer, every moment of worship is a building block in the temple He is raising within us. When we follow His ways rather than our own, we honor Him and allow His Spirit to work fully in our lives.
Ask yourself today: Am I following God’s design, or am I trying to shape my life to my own liking? Let this question guide your reflection and your choices. Jesus dwells in you, and His presence is meant to transform you, not simply decorate your life. Let your heart remain open, your worship sincere, and your actions guided by His truth. When God’s way becomes your way, your life becomes a temple that truly glorifies Him.
