Rest in Jesus When Your Soul Feels Tired
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Scripture:
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
—Matthew 11:28–29 (KJV)
Reflection:
There are days when my body is tired, my mind is cluttered, and my spirit feels drained. Maybe you’ve felt it too—that deep exhaustion that no nap or day off can fix. From the moment sin entered the world, humanity has been toiling—working, struggling, carrying burdens we were never meant to bear. Life keeps handing us more: stress at work, tension at home, our own internal battles. And just when it seems things are quieting down, something else rises up.
Before I knew Jesus, I didn’t even know what real rest was. I had no hope of it. Sin ran my life, always demanding, always taking, never giving back. But then Jesus called. “Come to Me,” He said. And He still says it—to the overwhelmed, the overworked, the overburdened.
The rest Jesus offers isn’t just a break. It’s a new way of being. He trades our heavy yoke for His—light and full of grace. He is gentle and lowly in heart, and in His presence, we find peace for our weary souls.
And one day, the rest we receive in Jesus will be eternal. There will be no more toil, no more pain, no more sin. In the presence of our Savior, we will experience the fullness of rest that never fades—where all our struggles will cease, and we will dwell with Him in perfect peace forever.
Today’s Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
I come to You today feeling tired and burdened. Life has its way of wearing me down, and at times the weight I carry feels too heavy. Thank You for inviting me to come to You when I am weary. You have promised to give rest to my soul, and I ask that You help me lean into that promise today. Teach me to trust in Your gentle and loving heart, knowing that You are always with me.
Lord, I surrender my worries, my struggles, and my striving to You. I know I don’t have to carry these burdens alone. Help me to rest in Your presence and to receive the peace You freely give. Thank You for the rest You offer now, and for the eternal rest I will one day enjoy with You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
