Don’t Forget Who Really Did It
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
And Samuel said unto the people, It is the Lord that advanced Moses and Aaron, and that brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.
Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the Lord of all the righteous acts of the Lord, which he did to you and to your fathers.
— 1 Samuel 12:6–7 (KJV)
Reflection
Have you ever done something that someone else got the credit for? They got the praises and the applause.
Sometimes you see this at work. The presenter of a project gets recognition for something an entire team worked hard on. Or the person on stage is thanked, while the ones who set everything up and worked behind the scenes are barely mentioned.
Maybe in a family setting, one person is praised while another quietly carries the load day after day.
It is easy for others to see the person in the forefront and forget the one in the background doing all the work. They barely get a pat on the back.
We see this kind of thing in life all the time. And sometimes, without realizing it, we do the same thing with God.
In 1 Samuel 12:6–7, Samuel stops the people and reminds them of something they were in danger of forgetting. It was the Lord that advanced Moses and Aaron. It was the Lord who brought Israel out of Egypt. Yes, there were leaders. Yes, there were people God used. But it was God who appointed them. God who empowered them. God who sent the plagues. God who opened the sea. God who delivered.
Later, the people looked highly on Saul as king. But it had been the Lord delivering them again and again long before Saul ever stood in front of them. The visible person often receives the attention, while the true source of the work is forgotten.
Maybe we see this in our own lives. You prayed for a need, and the Lord used someone to meet it. You found strength in a hard season, but it was God who carried you through. A door opened, help came, provision arrived. It is easy to thank the person and forget the One who moved their heart.
Samuel’s words call us to stop and remember what God has done. Every righteous act, every deliverance, every provision ultimately traces back to Him. People may be instruments, but God is always the source.
Today's Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the times I have focused on people and forgotten You. Thank You for being the One who works behind every blessing, every provision, and every deliverance in my life. Help me to always remember what You have done and to give You the glory You deserve. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Before You Go
Sometimes we get so used to the blessings that we forget the One who rules over it all. The Lord is sovereign. Nothing reaches your life apart from His authority, His wisdom, and His care. The help that came, the strength you had, the door that opened, the protection you did not even see, those were not chance moments.
If you have found yourself focusing more on people than on God, turn your heart back today. Remember who truly provides, who truly delivers, who truly sustains you. And remember that every act of mercy and grace flows to us through Jesus Christ. He is the greatest proof of God’s work on our behalf.
Let gratitude rise again, not just for what was done, but for the God who did it.
Did you miss it? Don’t worry—you can still catch up.
