Scripture

Psalm 107:2“Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—those he redeemed from the hand of the foe.”

Reflection

There are so many accounts throughout Scripture where God brought deliverance in powerful ways—He rescued Israel from Egypt, saved Daniel from the lions’ den, protected David from Saul, and set captives free through Jesus. But the most incredible thing is this: the same God who delivered then, still delivers now. And my life is living proof of that.

He has delivered me from sin and shame—from the kind of stain I couldn’t wash off on my own. He redeemed me from the grip of the enemy, the lies that tried to define me, and the traps meant to destroy me. Psalm 18:17 – “He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.”  That’s me. That’s my story.

Sometimes I forget just how far He’s brought me. I get caught up in daily life and don’t stop to acknowledge what He’s done. But when I slow down and remember His mercy, something stirs in me. I realize how much I have to rejoice over—how much He’s saved me from.

So for all of that—and so much more—I rejoice. Not because life is easy, but because God is faithful. Not because I’ve always been strong, but because He’s always been strong for me.

And when I begin to take His deliverance for granted, I ask Him to remind me again of the pit He pulled me from. Because remembering leads to rejoicing.

In the New Testament, we see that ultimate deliverance comes through Jesus. Colossians 1:13 tells us, “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.” That’s not just a rescue from danger—it’s a complete transfer from death to life, from bondage to freedom. Romans 7:24–25 also echoes this when Paul cries out, “Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” This kind of deliverance goes beyond our earthly trials—it touches the core of who we are.

Prayer for Today

Lord, I thank You for Your constant deliverance in my life. Thank You for rescuing me from sin, from darkness, and from the things that try to bind me. Thank You for sending Jesus, who is my ultimate deliverance, and for His sacrifice that has freed me. Help me to never forget the countless ways You've brought me through. Give me the strength to share my story of Your goodness with others, so they too can see how amazing Your love and power are. May I always rejoice in Your salvation and find peace in knowing that You will never leave me or forsake me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
