Rejoicing in God’s goodness and strength through praise

Today's Scripture

Psalm 28:7 KJV – "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him."

Reflection

I love music, and growing up, all kinds of music were around me. Many of those songs were secular, and even then, some touched my emotions. Lyrics often replayed my current situation, reminded me of my past, or simply fed the flesh and made me want to dance.

But nothing has affected me more deeply than songs of praise to the Lord. Even now, songs that are barely played today come to mind at the oddest times. Those songs deeply impacted me because they rejoice in the Lord, displaying His greatness, goodness, and faithfulness. When we focus on God through praise, our hearts find strength. Nothing is hidden from God, and He delights in our expressions of worship. Praise draws our eyes off our problems and reminds us that our help comes from Him alone.

We don’t have to wait for big moments to rejoice and praise Him. Psalm 28:7 reminds us that our hearts can rejoice in the strength He gives us daily, which is, to resist sin, to stand firm against temptations, to protect us from deception, and to guide us through challenges. Every small victory, every moment He shields and strengthens us, is reason enough to lift our hearts in praise.

Today's Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gift of praise and worship. Help me to lift my heart to You in song and in spirit, remembering that You are my strength and my shield. Teach me to rejoice in You, to trust You fully, and to find help and peace in Your presence. May my heart always reflect gratitude for Your goodness. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Before You Go

Take a moment today to rejoice in the Lord for His goodness, strength, and protection. Lift your voice in a song of praise and thanksgiving, letting your heart celebrate all that He has done. Even in ordinary moments, rejoicing in Him reminds you that He is faithful, strong, and always watching over you.
