Redeemed by God and Set Apart
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
Psalms 111:9 (KJV)
He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.
Reflection
There are some things that few of us have enough money to purchase outright. Like many people, I would have to put certain things on credit, such as a car or even a home. Although we call them ours because they are in our possession, the truth is they are not fully ours until the final payment is made and the title or deed is transferred.
Until then, there is still a claim attached to them.
When we read Psalm 111:9, we see the word redemption. Often we think of redemption simply as being bought back or delivered, and that is certainly part of the meaning. But there is also the idea of possession and separation. Something redeemed is no longer under its former claim. It has been purchased and now belongs fully to the one who paid the price.
Scripture tells us that God sent redemption to His people. Through Christ, the price was paid completely. There was no partial payment and no remaining balance. The work of redemption was finished.
This means that those who belong to Christ are no longer under the old claim of sin. We have been brought into something entirely different. We are set apart as His.
This is not only about being rescued. It is about belonging.
When something is redeemed, the ownership changes. The claim shifts. What once belonged elsewhere is now fully in the possession of another. In the same way, those who are redeemed by God are marked as His people.
The verse continues by reminding us that His covenant stands forever and that His name is holy and reverend. Redemption is not casual. It is part of God’s eternal purpose and His holy character.
The more we understand what it means to be redeemed, the more we realize that our lives are no longer our own. We belong to the One who paid the price.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You for the redemption You have given through Jesus Christ. Help me never to take lightly the price that was paid. Remind me that I no longer belong to my old ways but have been brought into Your covenant and Your care. Teach me to live as one who has been redeemed and set apart for You. In Jesus Name, Amen
Before You Go
Redemption is not just a word in Scripture. It is a reality that shapes how we live. The price has been paid, and through Christ we have been brought into a new belonging.
Scripture reminds us in First Epistle to the Corinthians 6:20, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
As you move through your day, remember who you belong to. Let that truth guide the way you think, speak, and live. The One who redeemed you is holy, and His name is worthy of honor.
Remembering the Lord’s Redemption
Psalm 111:9 reminds us that God has sent redemption to His people, and His name is holy and worthy of reverence. Jesus Christ fulfilled that redemption, giving Himself so we could be forgiven and restored. As we reflect on His saving work, our hearts are filled with gratitude and joy.
