The Power of the Cross Still Speaks
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
— 1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV)
Reflection
Thinking back to when I first heard the gospel as a little girl, it may seem like something too big for a child to understand. How could it change someone so young, with such limited knowledge of God and spiritual things? But that is exactly the power of the message of the cross. It has the ability to reach into the heart of anyone, no matter their age or background.
It wasn’t about how much I knew. It was about how deeply I believed.
I’ve seen the same message that moved me as a child be rejected by those considered wise by the world. Professors of religion, leaders of thought, people with knowledge and influence. They speak of the cross like it is just a symbol, a metaphor, or a myth. Some call it outdated. Others compare it to a fairy tale.
But the truth remains. The message of the cross is power. Not human power. Not emotional hype. It is the power of God to save, to change, and to bring life where there was death.
To those who do not believe, it will always sound foolish. But to those who have experienced it, it is everything. It is freedom. It is healing. It is hope. It is the very thing that holds our lives together.
The world values performance, status, and logic. But God chose the cross; a symbol of suffering, weakness, and shame to bring salvation. And that confuses the proud. It offends the wise. But it saves the humble.
The message of the cross still speaks. It speaks to the hurting, the lost, the overlooked, and the weak. It still reaches deep into hearts and transforms what nothing else can touch.
Let us never be ashamed of it. Let us never lose our awe of it. And let us never stop sharing it.
Today's Prayer
Father, thank You for the power of the cross. What the world calls foolish, You have made into the source of salvation. Remind me of what it cost and what it continues to do in my life. Help me to hold fast to this truth and to never grow numb to its power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before You Go
The message of the cross is not just a story. It is power. It is God’s chosen way to rescue the world. If it has changed your life, share it. If you feel weak, hold onto it. If you feel distant, return to it.
Take a moment to reflect:
Do you still see the cross as the source of God’s power in your life?
Have you become used to it or numb to its meaning?
Who around you needs to hear the message of the cross today?
How can you live in a way that honors what Jesus did for you?
To the world, it may seem foolish. But to us, it is life.
