Loving the Truth

Daily Devotional
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

In a world full of voices, let us stay rooted in the truth of God's Word.

Today's Scripture

2 Thessalonians 2:10-11 (NLT)
“He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies.”

Reflection

I look back over my years and see how things have rapidly changed. If you wanted to know anything, you went to the library, a teacher, or maybe watched a documentary on TV. Today information is right at our fingertips, and with that are countless voices and ideas. Some sound wise, some even sound spiritual, yet many are deceiving and many are being deceived.

The troubling part is that some do not even realize they are deceived. They have crafted their own version of truth, one that fits comfortably with their lifestyle and opinions. Instead of surrendering to what God says, they create a truth that pleases the self. Even some who call themselves believers fall into this trap, choosing what feels right instead of what is right. They may follow teachings that make them feel good, avoid parts of Scripture that convict, or twist verses to fit their own desires.

This is why Paul’s warning is so vital. God’s truth is not meant to be reshaped by culture or emotion. It stands firm, even when it challenges us. When we refuse to love the truth, we open ourselves up to deception. Loving the truth means seeking it, even when it corrects us, humbles us, or reveals something hard to face.

God has given us His Word and His Spirit so that we can walk in truth. When we stay close to Him, the light of His Word exposes the lies around us and strengthens us to live faithfully, no matter what the world promotes.

Today's Prayer

Father, help me to love Your truth above all else. Keep me from being swayed by what sounds good but is not from You. Teach me to search Your Word with an open heart and to let it correct and guide me. Let Your Spirit lead me into all truth, so that my faith remains strong and pure. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Before You Go

What areas of your life might you be allowing your own version of truth to influence, rather than submitting to God’s Word? How can you realign your heart with His truth today? Remember, Truth is not something we define. It is found in the Word of God and revealed through Jesus Christ. Stay close to Him and remain in Scripture so you will not be led astray. As you seek His truth daily, He will keep your heart clear and your faith anchored in what is real and eternal.
