Back-to-School Prayer Series
Simple, heartfelt prayers to start the school year with peace, faith, and focus.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:32

Let’s Talk About It

Because so much of the day is spent at school, with peers, teachers, and staff, there are bound to be moments of emotional strain. Wherever there are many people, there will be many emotions. This is especially true for children, no matter their age. Conflicts arise. Words can hurt. And navigating friendships is not always easy.

For teachers and staff, the emotional energy it takes to handle dozens of personalities, emotions, and classroom dynamics can be exhausting. The call to lead with kindness and compassion isn’t always easy, especially when met with frustration, disrespect, or fatigue.

The importance of friendship and kindness can shape the entire school experience. This is a time when children are learning what it means to imitate Christ. And it’s a time for staff to demonstrate that same kindness and patience in leadership.

Let’s ask the Lord to help both students and staff reflect His love in how they interact with others.

Prayer for Parents and Children

Lord,
You care about the hearts of our children. You created us for connection, and You command us to be kind. I pray that my child will be surrounded by friends who build up, not tear down. Give them courage to be kind, even when others are not. Teach them to forgive quickly and speak gently. Help them be a light to others and to choose their words with grace.

If they feel alone, remind them that You never leave them. Show them that friendship with You is the most faithful friendship of all.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer from the Heart of a School Administrator

Father,
You’ve placed me in a position to lead and serve. Some days are full of joy and laughter. Others feel heavy and draining. But no matter the kind of day, I ask that You help me respond with kindness. Give me patience with my students. Help me extend compassion to those who are hurting, and be slow to react in frustration.

Let me lead by example. When tempers flare or conflicts arise, help me model the very grace You’ve shown me. May my words build up and my actions point to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Keep This in Mind

Kindness is never wasted. Every word and action—especially the unseen ones—can reflect Christ and shape the hearts around us.

👉 Tomorrow, we’ll pray for the teachers and school staff who serve with so much dedication.
