Today's Scripture

The memory of the just is blessed. But the name of the wicked shall rot.
— Proverbs 10:7 KJV

Reflection

I want you to stop for a minute and think about someone you know who has lived a life walking in the Spirit and reflecting the image of Christ. Then think briefly of someone who was the opposite. You likely have warm, grateful thoughts toward the righteous person and negative feelings toward the one who lived wickedly. Proverbs 10:7 makes this contrast clear and shows how the lives we live leave a lasting impression on the people around us.

We live each day not always realizing the impact we leave on others. I know I am sometimes guilty of that. There are moments when I stop and think about how my life speaks. What will they say about me. What will they think about me. Did my life reflect a heart devoted to Christ. Or will the memory of my life leave a bitter taste in the mouths of those I encountered.

Mary comes to mind. She took costly perfume and poured it on Jesus head and feet, wiping His feet with her hair. Some of the disciples were upset, but Jesus defended her. He said that wherever the gospel is preached, her deed would be remembered and spoken of. Her act was a beautiful expression of love and devotion. It shows the kind of response we should offer to the Lord and the kind of memory a righteous life can leave behind.

When I read Proverbs 10:7 alongside Hebrews 6:10, it reminds me that God never forgets anything done in His name. Nothing is hidden from God. There are so many moments when we choose to do what is right quietly, without recognition or applause. Yet God sees every bit of it. He does not ignore the prayers you whisper, the kindness you show, or the work you do out of love for Him. Even when people forget, God remembers. That gives me comfort because it tells me that living righteously is never wasted. God holds every act of faithfulness close to His heart, and He is faithful to honor what is done for His glory.

Today's Prayer

Lord, help me to live a life that honors You. Teach me to walk in the Spirit, to reflect the image of Christ, and to leave a memory that brings blessing and not sorrow. Let my words, actions, and choices point others to You. May the legacy of my life be one that glorifies Your name. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Before You Go

Take a moment today to reflect on the kind of memory your life is shaping. Ask the Lord to help you live with intention, kindness, faithfulness, and devotion. Every choice you make can become part of a testimony that blesses those around you and honors Him.

And as you think about the legacy you are leaving, remember that the just are called to live in a way that points back to Jesus. He is the One who shows us what a faithful life looks like. When we follow Him, our choices begin to carry His goodness. Jesus leaves a lasting mark on every life He touches, and as we walk with Him, our lives can do the same.
