Is It Useless to Serve God?
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
"You have said, ‘It is futile to serve God. What did we gain by carrying out His requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’" Malachi 3:14 (NLT)
Reflection
I am ashamed to say that my thoughts have echoed this many times in my head. Looking around, we see the wicked living long, filling up their pockets with wealth. On the other hand, we see those who trust in Jesus facing struggles, and sometimes, it seems like they have little to show for their faith. Maybe you are one of those people.
A long time ago, I was taught that if you struggled or faced persecution, it was a sign of a lack of faith. I’ve come to realize that I don’t believe in Jesus for the stuff. I don’t follow Him because the wicked seem to have a leg up in this world, or because life is always easy. I serve Him for who He is , my Savior, my Redeemer, and my King.
It’s hard when we look out into the world with our human eyes and see the disparity between those who follow Jesus and those who don’t. But we must remember that we have hope. We have assurance. We have eternal life in Jesus, and on that Great Day, His wrath will pass over us, just as it did for the Hebrews in Egypt. Those who don't believe in Jesus will face the judgment of God, but we are covered by His grace.
Though it may seem like the wicked prosper now, we know that God is just, and He will make all things right in His perfect timing. Serving God is never in vain. It is always worth it. Our reward is not in this world; our reward is in Him.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness, even when we can't always see it in our circumstances. Help me to trust that serving You is never in vain. I know You are good, and You will make all things right. Thank You for the hope we have in Jesus, our Savior. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Before You Go
Have you ever wondered if it’s useless to serve God when it seems like the wicked are prospering? We often face moments where the struggles of faith seem overwhelming, and the rewards feel far away. But remember, serving God is never in vain. Even when it seems like the wicked prosper or our efforts go unnoticed, we can trust that God sees everything and rewards those who serve Him with a sincere heart. We don’t follow Jesus for what we can get; we follow Him because of who He is. Keep your eyes on His eternal promises, knowing that the things of this world are fleeting, but His love and faithfulness endure forever.
Did you miss it? Don’t worry—you can still catch up.
