Scripture for Today

“Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”
—2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)

Reflections

Boasting isn’t something I ever aim to do—but let’s be honest, sometimes it sneaks in. Maybe not loud and proud, but in those subtle thoughts… like, “I must be stronger than them because I handled that better,” or “Life is going well because I’ve made the right choices.” But if I’ve learned anything in this walk with God, it’s this: strength doesn’t come from me. And it’s not about how well I perform—it’s about how much I rely on Him.

Paul said he was glad to boast in his weakness, but that came from a real place. He had experienced some incredible revelations from the Lord—things most of us could only imagine. And yet, he also had something he called a “thorn in the flesh.” We don’t know exactly what it was—some think it was suffering, persecution, or maybe a physical struggle—but we do know it kept him humble. It reminded him that even with all he had seen and done, he still needed God’s grace every day.

That thorn helped Paul see something he may not have understood otherwise: God’s grace doesn’t just save us—it sustains us. It shows up in the middle of pain, in the weariness, and in every unanswered prayer. Paul asked three times for that thorn to be taken away—but the answer wasn’t removal. It was grace.

And I’ve been there too. I’ve hit those walls. Been in those moments where all I could do was cry out to God because my strength had run out. But it was in those exact moments where I saw His grace the clearest. I wasn’t strong—but He was. I didn’t have it together—but His power held me up. And that’s when I finally saw it: His grace is enough.

Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for grace that never runs out. For mercy that meets me where I am and strength that shows up when I don’t have any. I confess that sometimes I try to be strong on my own—but I know now that I don’t have to. You are enough. Your grace is enough. Help me to rely on You more, boast in Your power, and trust that even in my weakest moments, You are still holding me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Just Before You Go

Although Jesus came to rescue me from my sin, He is also present every day, giving grace in my weakest moments. Through the struggles, the fears, and those times when I feel like I have nothing left to give, I can always rely on His grace. It's not just about salvation for the future; it's about the grace that sustains me now.

Jesus understands exactly what I go through—every bit of it. And because of that, I can come to Him with all my brokenness, knowing that I will find mercy and strength. I don’t have to hide my weaknesses from Him. He’s right there in the middle of it all, offering me the grace I need to keep going. His grace really is enough—today, in this moment.
