Treasure in Fragile Jars
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
— 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KJV)
Reflection
I have a thing for coffee mugs. Some people collect books or candles. Me? I love a good mug. Sometimes it’s the design, but most of the time it’s the words written on it that encourage me. They speak to me in the moment. But I’ve also learned something else about mugs, they’re fragile. I’ve been known to get a little upset when someone breaks one of my favorites.
They’re just mugs, but they don’t last forever.
That’s helped me understand what this verse is getting at. We are like those jars or mugs; fragile, breakable, and not meant to last forever in this form. Still, God chooses to put His treasure in us. His glory. His power. His truth.
The verse before says, "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts..." That’s the treasure we carry.
It’s not our own wisdom or strength that people need to see. It’s His. We don’t carry this treasure because we’re strong. We carry it so people can see how strong God is when we are not.
When life gets hard and you feel like you’re about to crack, remember this. God is not surprised by your weakness. He knew who you were when He chose you. He still chose to fill you with His Spirit, His love, His Word.
You may feel fragile at times, and that’s okay. You were never meant to hold yourself together. The cracks in your life don’t cancel God’s purpose. They give Him room to shine through.
So the next time you feel broken or weak, remember, you are still carrying something priceless. That treasure in you is from God and it is more than enough.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You for choosing to place Your power in someone like me. I know I am weak on my own. I can be fragile and unsure. But You are strong, and You are faithful. Let Your glory shine through every part of my life. Use even the broken places to show Your goodness. I want others to see You when they look at me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before You Go
You don’t have to be superhuman to carry God’s presence. He uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. You might feel tired, overlooked, or fragile today. But the treasure inside you is real. And it’s more powerful than anything this world can throw at you.
Take a moment to reflect:
Are you relying on your own strength or letting God shine through your weakness?
What area of your life feels the most fragile right now?
How might God be using that very place to reveal His glory?
Are you willing to be a vessel for His goodness, even when it costs you comfort?
Let your life be a reflection of the treasure within you. Not because you’re strong, but because He is.
Did you miss it? Don’t worry—you can still catch up.
