God’s Name Is Wonderful
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
"Why do you ask My name, seeing it is wonderful?" Judges 13:18
Reflection
When my grandchildren were born, they were given a name, one that had been thought about long before their birth. Some families make it a shared event with loved ones. Some pass down a name of a cherished family member. Others choose a name simply because it sounds beautiful or they are looking for something unique. And sometimes, the choice comes from the meaning of the name, which we also see in the Scriptures.
When we meet others, a name is often our first point of introduction. Perhaps it is because we want an identifier with our experience. In Judges 13, Samson's father asks the "Angel of the Lord" His name. Many scholars see this as a Christophany, a visit from Christ in the Old Testament. The angel responds, “My name is wonderful,” revealing God’s majesty, power, and incomprehensible greatness. It makes sense that God’s name itself conveys who He is, far beyond human comprehension. We see this incomprehensible aspect of God’s name also in Exodus 3:14, “God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM; and He said, Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.”
Every time we speak or hear God’s name, we are reminded of His presence, His authority, and His goodness. There is comfort in knowing that the One whose name is wonderful is also the Name in which we trust, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. He walks with us in every season of life and gives us confidence that His power and love are beyond what we can fully grasp.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You for revealing Yourself through Your wonderful and incomprehensible name. Help me to honor Your greatness and trust Your power in every circumstance. May Your presence bring peace to my heart and guidance to my steps. In Jesus Name, Amen.
