He Will Do What He Said
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
For thus saith the Lord, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
— Jeremiah 29:10 (KJV)
Reflection
Jeremiah has always been a hard read for me. It’s filled with warnings, sorrow, and suffering. But this morning, during my reading time, I stumbled across this verse again. I don’t know why it leaped off the page today, but suddenly I saw something I hadn’t before. Encouragement in the middle of the storm.
The Lord was telling a rebellious people that they were about to be exiled. They would be taken far from their land, their homes, and everything familiar. But even then, He was not forsaking them. He gave them a promise. He had good plans for them. And He would bring them back.
And He did exactly what He said.
Sometimes people hesitate to read the Old Testament, but I believe it holds some of the clearest revelations of God’s character. His patience. His justice. His mercy. And here in Jeremiah 29:10, we see His faithfulness. He made a promise and He fulfilled it. Right on time.
God does what He says.
And just like the people of Judah, we are also exiles in a sense. We’re living in a world that is not our true home. We see brokenness, we face hardship, and we often feel the weight of the wait. But there is a promise that still stands. God will bring us home.
One day, we will see the fulfillment of all that He has spoken. A new heaven. A new earth. New bodies. Eternal life. And most of all, we will dwell with Jesus.
So take heart. Whatever you are facing today, whether hardship, chastisement, suffering, or persecution, God is faithful. His plans are good. And He will do what He said.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You for being faithful to Your promises. Help me to hold fast when life feels uncertain. Let me trust Your timing and believe Your Word, even in difficulty. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. And I know You will do exactly what You said. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before You Go
Let the Old Testament remind you of the New Covenant hope we have in Christ. God’s promises do not fail. His Word will be fulfilled.
Take a moment to reflect:
What promise from God are you waiting on today?
Are you trusting His Word even in difficulty?
How can remembering His faithfulness in the past strengthen your faith today?
God did it before. He will do it again.
