Boasting in the Lord Alone
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
1 Corinthians 1:31 (KJV)
That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
Reflection
Something you may not know about me is that I love to sing. Music, even when I am singing, brightens my day no matter what is happening around me. Like many of us closet singers, the notes that come out are not solo singer worthy, but that never stops me.
Then there are those with beautiful gifts. Voices that sound heavenly. Hands that move across instruments with ease. It is easy to see how pride can quietly slip in. When something comes so naturally, we can forget where it came from. Yet the wisdom to play and the ability to sound beautiful were given by the LORD. It is God who formed the vocal cords. It is God who designed sound itself. It is God who works skill into a person so deeply that they play without even thinking about it.
That truth makes me pause and think about faith. How did I come to believe in Christ? Was it my own intellect? Was it because one teacher explained things better than another? Or was it something deeper and greater than all of that?
I have to remind myself that anything I create is not of my own doing. I did not choose how my mind is wired. I did not decide what I could understand easily and what would take time. The same is true of faith and wisdom. There was a time when we did not have it. We did nothing to earn it.
Scripture reminds us that our boasting should never be in ourselves. Our boast belongs to the LORD. He is the One who gifts the speaker and the hearer. He is the One who opens hearts to hear and believe. This is why all honor and praise belong to Jesus Christ. He is our Creator. He is the wisdom of God.
Today's Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the times I forget where my gifts come from. Whether it is something seen or unseen, obvious or quiet, it all comes from You. Help me to walk humbly, remembering that wisdom, faith, and ability are not self made. Teach my heart to boast only in You, and let my life reflect gratitude rather than pride. May all glory return to You, the giver of every good gift. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before You Go
As you go about your day, pause and consider the gifts you carry, both visible and unseen. They may show up in creativity, understanding, encouragement, service, or faith itself. None of them were self formed. Each one was shaped by the hands of your Creator and sustained by His grace.
Ask yourself this: If everything I have was taken away except Christ, would He still be enough for my joy and confidence? That question gently reveals where our boasting truly rests.
Jesus is not only the giver of wisdom and faith, He is the wisdom of God Himself. When we boast in Him, we are reminded that our lives are not about displaying our ability, but about reflecting His glory. Let today be an opportunity to turn praise back to Jesus, trusting that everything good in you began with Him and will always find its purpose in Him.
