Awake to the Light of Christ
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
Ephesians 5:13–14 (KJV)
“But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”
Reflection
I’m an early morning riser. Most days, the only ones who are up before me are the birds. And often, no matter the season, I’m met with darkness. The kind of darkness where you might bump into a few things if you’re not careful, so I’ve learned to reach for the light before I start moving around.
I use a night light, and it is amazing how even that small light can illuminate a big space. It doesn’t remove every shadow, but it gives enough clarity for me to move with confidence. What once felt uncertain becomes visible, and I am able to walk without stumbling over what I could not see before.
That small light always reminds me of how God works in our lives. When His light shines, it reveals what was hidden or unclear. It does not always come all at once, but it is always enough. Enough to show us where we are, enough to guide our next step, and enough to keep us from moving blindly.
Paul tells us that what is brought into the light is made visible. This is not meant to overwhelm us, but to help us. There are times when we may be moving through life without full awareness. Not intentionally, but simply because we have grown used to certain things or have not taken the time to look closely. Then God, in His care, allows His light to shine, and we begin to see more clearly.
The call to awake is gentle, but it is also necessary. It is a call to become aware, to respond, and to step out of what may feel like spiritual dullness or routine. It is an invitation to walk in a way that is aligned with truth.
And what brings comfort is the promise that follows. Christ shall give thee light. This reminds us that we are not responsible for producing the light ourselves. Our role is to respond, to turn toward Him, and He provides the clarity we need.
Just like that small night light is enough to guide me through the darkness of early morning, God’s light is always sufficient. He gives what we need to walk forward, step by step, with understanding and direction.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You for being the light that reveals and guides. Help me to remain aware and responsive when You bring things into the light. Give me a willing heart to see clearly and to walk in truth. I do not want to move through life unaware, but to walk closely with You, led by Your wisdom. Thank You that Your light is always enough for where I am and where You are leading me.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Before You Go
As you go through your day, remember that Jesus is not only the one who gives light, He is the light. He said in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” That means you are not left trying to figure things out on your own or searching for clarity in your own strength.
If something has been brought to your attention, or if you sense God gently calling you to be more aware, do not pull back from it. Lean into Him. His light is not meant to overwhelm you, but to guide you with care and purpose. Even when it feels small, His light is always enough to lead you forward.
Walk with Him today, trusting that as you follow, He will continue to make your path clear.
Don’t worry—you can still catch up and be encouraged today.
