Seeking the Lord Before You Lose Your Way
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin The LORD is with you, while ye be with him and if ye seek him, he will be found of you but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
— 2 Chronicles 15:2 (KJV)
Reflection
One day we were at the beach for a family trip, a whole day experience. We set up our umbrellas, chairs, blankets, and brought along our picnic lunch. Once we were settled, we decided to take a walk along the shore. The beach was popular and pretty busy, but we arrived early and found a good spot that was not congested.
We walked and walked, admiring the ocean and all the little things we noticed along the way. Eventually, we had our fill of walking and decided to head back to our spot. As we walked back, we noticed that the beach had filled up. What once felt open now felt crowded, and suddenly we had a hard time finding where we had set up. I think it took more time to find our spot than it did to walk the shoreline. But then, there it was. We saw our umbrellas. We found our camp.
This reminds me of Asa and Israel, and how the people had lost their way. Scripture tells us that for a long season Israel had been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without the law. It is easy to imagine how this happened. It likely did not come all at once. One person turning aside, another following. A little compromise here, a small shift there. Over time, what was once familiar slowly changed until the people no longer recognized where they were.
Yet God, in His mercy, sent a word to Asa. The message was simple and clear. The LORD is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found. God had not moved. The problem was not that He was lost. The people had wandered.
This is still true for us today. When life becomes crowded, noisy, and overwhelming, it is easy to lose our bearings. We may still be walking, still doing life, but slowly our focus shifts. Our time, our affections, and our attention drift. Then one day we realize we are struggling to find the place where we once stood firmly with the Lord.
God promises that He will be found by those who seek Him. The perseverance of our search reveals the intent of our heart and our desire to remain with Him. Even when we realize we have wandered, the invitation to seek Him still stands.
God is not reluctant to be found, nor does He hide Himself from those who truly desire Him. When our hearts turn back toward Him, we find that He has been faithful all along, ready to meet us where we are and lead us back to the place of trust, obedience, and fellowship with Him.
Today's Prayer
Lord, You have not changed, even when I have wandered. Help me to recognize when my steps begin to drift and my focus begins to shift. Give me a heart that seeks You before I realize I am far away. I thank You that You are merciful, patient, and willing to be found. Draw me back to where You are, and help me to remain with You each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before You Go
Have you ever realized you were farther from the Lord than you thought, not because of one big decision, but many small ones? Scripture reminds us that seeking God is not a one time act, but a daily posture of the heart. Today, take a moment to ask yourself where your attention has been resting. If you sense distance, be encouraged.
God’s promise still stands. If you seek Him, He will be found. Through Jesus Christ, the way back into fellowship with God is open, and He meets those who seek Him with mercy, guidance, and restoring grace.
