Cast Into the Depths of the Sea
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
Micah 7:19 KJV
He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us. He will subdue our iniquities, and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
Reflection
The sea is an amazing place, full of life and mystery. Some of that life is so large that even in its vastness it remains hidden. I love going to the beach and sitting under an umbrella, looking out over the water. For miles and miles there is nothing to see but endless ocean and the occasional ship. It seems so wide that I cannot see the end of it, no matter how far I try to look. That makes the picture in Micah 7:19 even more powerful. God is showing us something that reaches far beyond what our eyes can see.
Romans 8 tells us that God sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and condemned sin in the flesh. Jesus defeated sin. What He did on the cross was not a temporary covering. He cleanses. John the Baptist said it clearly, Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. God is the One who performs this work, and for those who believe on Him, He is transforming us day by day as He writes His law on our hearts.
So when you go about your day and feel like you have failed, when you are tempted to sit under the weight of guilt or discouragement, remember what God has promised. Your sins are not hovering over you. They are not waiting to be brought back up. He casts them into the depths of the sea. Not the shoreline. Not the shallow waters. The depths. Gone from sight. Gone from remembrance.
Hebrews 10 reminds us that because of the covenant He made, our sins and iniquities will He remember no more. His mercy is steady. His compassion is real, and He turns toward His people again and again with forgiveness and restoration.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your mercy that reaches farther than the eye can see. Thank You that through Jesus my sins are forgiven and cast into the depths of the sea. Help me to rest in Your compassion and to walk in the new life You have given me. When I feel discouraged or aware of my weakness, remind me that You are faithful to Your covenant and faithful to Your children. In Jesus name, Amen.
Before You Go
Do you ever find yourself struggling to let go of sins that God has already forgiven? Micah 7:19 reminds us that God does not hold our sins against us when we come to Him in faith. They are cast away, buried in a place we cannot reach and He will not revisit. Take comfort in knowing that the compassion of the Lord is greater than your failures. The Micah 7:19 devotional reminds us that His mercy is deeper than any ocean and His forgiveness is complete. Let this truth steady your heart today.
