Today's Scripture

Revelation 7:12 KJV
Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

Reflection

Thanksgiving has often become thought of as a holiday, you know, the big feast with turkey, stuffing, and cranberries. And while it is wonderful to express gratitude to people for helping and being there, even for the things we have, sometimes true thanksgiving can be missed. True thanksgiving belongs to God, the ultimate giver of all good things.

When a friend helps you in a difficult time, thank your friend, but remember that it was God who orchestrated that help. He blessed your friend so that they could be a vessel to bless you. When your parents gave you life, honor them, but it was God who opened your mother’s womb and breathed life into you. When your work succeeds and you take pride in your skill, it is God who increased your knowledge and gave you the mind to accomplish it. In every good thing, every gift, every blessing, it is Him we ultimately owe thanksgiving.

Revelation 7:12 reminds us that all honor, glory, wisdom, power, and might belong to God forever. Nothing we have or do comes apart from Him. True thanksgiving lifts our eyes to the Lord, recognizing Him as the source of everything good, and gives our hearts a chance to overflow in praise, acknowledging His constant care and provision.

God is worthy of our thanksgiving because He is good and holy. Psalm 100:4-5 reminds us to enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise, for the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34 says, Give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy endures forever. His faithfulness, holiness, and constant provision make Him the only one truly deserving of all our gratitude and praise.

Today's Prayer

Lord, thank You for being the source of every blessing in my life. Teach me to give You true thanksgiving in all things, to recognize Your hand in every gift, and to honor You above all else. Help me to see Your work in my friends, my family, and my own abilities, and to lift my heart in constant praise. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Before You Go

Take a moment today to reflect on all the blessings in your life and consider where true thanksgiving belongs. Thank God for the people around you, the skills He has given, and the provision you often take for granted. Remember that He is the source of all good things, and let your heart overflow with gratitude and praise toward Him.

If you are in a position to bless someone else, rejoice in that opportunity. Remember that it is the Lord who first blessed you and gave to you, and He delights in using your life to bring encouragement, help, and joy to others. Let your giving and serving reflect Jesus’ love, and know that even small acts done in His name can make a lasting difference.
