Our Inheritance in Christ
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave none inheritance; the Lord God of Israel was their inheritance, as he said unto them.
— Joshua 13:33
Reflection
When parents pass away, it’s not just about the grief we feel, it often stirs up other difficult issues, like inheritance. Who gets what? If the rules are clear, that can make it easier, but when there are no clear guidelines, it can lead to confusion and questions.
The Levites faced something similar. They were the priestly tribe, set apart for temple service. They didn’t inherit land like the other tribes of Israel, but they had something even more special: God Himself was their inheritance. While others worked the land, the Levites were taken care of by God. He provided their food, their shelter, everything they needed. They lived around the tabernacle in Moses’ time, and when the people entered the Promised Land, the Levites were scattered throughout the land to serve. Instead of receiving a piece of land, their inheritance was God’s provision.
Now, you might be thinking, “Okay, but what does this have to do with me today?” Well, as believers in Christ, we’re also part of a royal priesthood, a holy nation. 1 Peter 2:9 tells us, "But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession."
We have a similar inheritance to the Levites. We may not inherit land, but we have an inheritance in Christ that’s beyond anything this world offers. Our inheritance is not based on physical possessions, but on God’s eternal promises. 1 Peter 1:4 tells us that we have “an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.”
This inheritance is secure, and it’s not based on anything we’ve done. It’s a gift from God. His provision for us is just as real and abundant as it was for the Levites. We may go through struggles here on earth, but our inheritance in Christ, our eternal hope, is far greater than anything we could ever receive here.
Today's Prayer
Father, thank You for the inheritance You’ve given me in Christ. I may not have an earthly inheritance, but I have Your promises, which are far greater and everlasting. Help me to live with gratitude for the incredible gift of my inheritance, trusting that You will always provide for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before You Go
We may sometimes wonder about inheritance and what we’ll receive in this life, but we have something far better waiting for us in Christ. Just as God provided for the Levites, He provides for us. Our inheritance in Christ is secure, eternal, and full of promises that can never be taken away. Take a moment to reflect on how this truth changes your perspective on your circumstances today. Whatever you may face, remember that your inheritance in Christ is far greater than anything this world has to offer.
