Trusting God’s Wisdom Over Ours
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
Proverbs 2:6
"For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding."
Reflection
A lot of times, I find myself on social media, trying to answer some of my questions, how to fix something, cook a meal, or maybe even search for self-help advice. You know, those common-sense topics that people love to share. Proverbs gives us that kind of wisdom. Like when it says, “Walk with the wise and become wise; for a companion of fools suffers harm” (Proverbs 13:20). It’s like the sayings our parents used to tell us—“Show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future.” We hear it all the time, “You are the company you keep.” It’s that simple, yet powerful advice.
But here’s the catch, sometimes, even what sounds like good wisdom from ourselves or others doesn’t always lead us in the right direction. We can see this in the story of Job. His friends, though they meant well, were offering what seemed like sound advice. Take Bildad, for example. He told Job, “If you seek God and live upright, He will restore you” (Job 8:5-6). That sounds like solid wisdom, right? It’s definitely wise to pray and live upright. But Bildad made a false assumption. He lacked discernment, and that’s why his advice didn’t hit the mark. When truth is misapplied, it becomes unwise.
That’s why we need to trust God’s wisdom over our own. Whether it’s advice for someone else or a decision we’re making, we must always seek His wisdom. God’s wisdom is perfect, and it’s the only kind that will guide us in the right direction every time.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You for the wisdom You freely give. Help me to trust Your wisdom over my own. In every decision and situation, guide me with Your perfect understanding. I know I can always count on You to lead me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before You Go
Take a moment today to think about a decision or situation you're facing. Is there an area where you’ve been relying on your own wisdom or others' advice? Ask God for His wisdom in that area, and trust that He will guide you in the right direction. When we make a habit of seeking His wisdom, we can be confident that He will always lead us to what’s best. His wisdom never fails, and it’s always the right path.
