Let’s Talk About It
Back-to-school season can be a mixture of excitement and nervousness. Children may be eager to see friends, join activities, and settle into new routines. And as a parent, there’s often excitement too, finally having time to get things done in a quieter house.
But there’s also another side. Some children may be entering school for the very first time, stepping away from their parents with wide eyes and anxious hearts. And many parents are quietly carrying concerns, especially in a world where school environments don’t always feel as safe as they should.
This is a season that calls for prayer, not just for our children and our families, but also for the teachers, administrators, and school staff who face their own pressures and hopes. Let us begin this week of prayer by asking the Lord to fill all of our hearts with calm and confidence.
Prayer for Parents and Children
Heavenly Father,
Your goodness knows no end, and You care deeply about Your creation. I bring this new school year before You, Lord. You know every fear, every joy, and every unknown that lies ahead. This season can leave me a little rattled, unsure, maybe even anxious, but I choose to place my trust in You.
Please fill our homes with Your peace. Replace fear with calm. Let Your presence be near in drop-offs, goodbyes, first-day jitters, and long afternoons.
I pray not only for my child’s peace, but also for mine. Remind me that You go before us. That You walk every hallway, sit in every classroom, and stand guard over every playground.
And Lord, I lift up the school administrators and staff, those who make countless decisions behind the scenes. Give them peace as well. Strengthen them to lead with clarity and care.

Prayer from the Heart of a School Administrator
Lord God,
As a new school year begins, I feel the weight of responsibility on my shoulders. I want to lead well. I want every student, teacher, and parent to feel safe and seen. There are so many decisions to make, some of them hard and unseen.
Please give me wisdom beyond my own understanding. Quiet my anxious thoughts and remind me that I’m not leading alone. Fill my heart with peace and confidence, and help me create an environment where Your love and care are felt, even in small ways.
I commit this school year to You. Lead me as I lead others.

When anxiety rises, let prayer be your first response. God promises to guard your heart and mind with peace that goes beyond understanding.
