Finding Hope and Joy in the Good News Transformative Power

Colossians 1:6 (NLT) This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.

I remember the days of serious news anchors. Back then, the news was like our version of social media. You’d wake up to it and make sure not to miss the evening broadcast to stay informed. Of course, it sparked plenty of conversation. But the problem with news is that it often highlights the tragedies and struggles of the world, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and hopeless.

The Good News of the Gospel, however, is different. It doesn’t leave us feeling lost or burdened—it fills us with hope. No matter what is going on in the world around us, we know we have an everlasting consolation. The Gospel is not just words that give us information; it’s life-changing. From the moment we heard and believed it, something began to grow in us, bearing fruit.

I was a young girl when I first heard about Jesus, and although I didn’t fully understand, I can still recall the joy it brought me. Those early days of hearing the Good News are memories I hold close to my heart. Just as the apostle Paul reminded the Colossians of the Gospel’s impact, it’s important for us to reflect on how it touched our lives, transforming us from the inside out.

May you find peace and joy in remembering when you first heard and believed the Good News. And may it continue to bear fruit in your life today, reminding you of God’s unending grace.
