Show Me the Way I Should Walk
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
Psalm 143:8 (KJV)
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
Reflection
A few years ago, I took a road trip to visit my son, daughter in law, and my newly born grandson. It was about a 17 to 19 hour drive, so I planned a stop along the way to get some rest. I had never been to that state before, but I felt confident because I had my navigation app guiding me.
Everything was going fine until I was just a few hours from my destination. My phone signal dropped, and to make it worse, it happened in the middle of a rainstorm. For about fifteen minutes, I just kept driving straight, unsure if I was even going the right way.
On the outside, I stayed calm, but inside I felt that sense of being lost. There was a quiet concern, not knowing if I had taken a wrong turn or if I was heading further away from where I needed to be. Then suddenly, the signal came back. The directions reappeared, and with it came such a deep sense of relief.
In many ways, our spiritual walk can feel like that.
There are moments when everything seems clear, and we feel confident in the direction we are going. But then there are times when things feel uncertain. We cannot see ahead, we do not feel guided, and we begin to wonder if we are on the right path.
Psalm 143:8 reminds us where our direction truly comes from. We are not meant to navigate life on our own. We are meant to seek the Lord daily, to hear His lovingkindness, and to trust Him to show us the way we should walk.
Jesus said in John 14:5–6 that He is the way. That means we are not just following instructions, we are following a person. Our direction is found in relationship with Him.
And Romans 8:14 reminds us that those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. There is assurance in that. We are not left to wander or figure things out alone. When we belong to Him, He leads us.
But just like that moment on the road, there are times when we feel like the signal drops. We do not sense His direction as clearly, and we may feel unsure or even lost. In those moments, we are called to keep trusting, to keep moving forward in faith, even when we cannot see.
Dependence on God means surrendering our need to always know and choosing instead to trust the One who does. It is waking up each day and saying, “Lord, show me the way I should walk.”
Because He will.
And when He does, there is a peace and assurance that settles in our hearts, reminding us that we were never truly lost. We were always in His care, being led step by step.
Today's Prayer
Lord, I praise You for Your lovingkindness and for the way You lead me each day. You are faithful, even when I cannot see clearly, and You never leave me without direction.
Thank You for being the One I can trust completely. You see the path ahead, and You guide me with wisdom and care. I lift up my soul to You, knowing that You are good and that Your ways are right.
Teach me to depend on You more. Help me to listen for Your voice and to follow where You lead. Even when I feel unsure, remind me that You are still guiding me step by step.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Before You Go
As you go through your day, remember that you do not have to figure everything out on your own. The Lord is faithful to guide you, even when the path is not clear.
When you feel uncertain, lift your heart to Him and trust that He knows the way. His lovingkindness is new every morning, and His direction is always sure.
Stay close to Him, listen for His leading, and rest in the assurance that He is guiding your steps, even when you cannot see the road ahead.
Don’t worry—you can still catch up and be encouraged today.
