Sealed with the Holy Spirit
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today's Scripture
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
— 2 Corinthians 1:22 (KJV)
Reflection
A long time ago, I saw a period film set in a time far different from ours. They didn’t have the simple mailing system we do today, just a letter and an envelope. In the film, they had this quaint little desk, and the woman was sealing the letter before it was to be sent. In those days, the sealing of a letter was far more than a practical action; it was a symbol of identity and authority. They used wax and a stamp to seal up scrolls or letters. That wax didn’t just keep the contents safe; it declared who the sender was. It affirmed that the person who sent it had the authority to do so.
This is similar to how God has sealed us with His Holy Spirit. Just as a wax seal marks ownership and authority, the Holy Spirit in our hearts marks us as God’s own. He is the official stamp on our lives, proving that we belong to Him. And like the oath God gave to Abraham, the Holy Spirit is a guarantee, an earnest of what is to come. It’s a promise that all God has said He will fulfill in us. The seal is not just a mark; it’s a downpayment of the eternal hope and promise He has given us.
So you can have confidence in your identity as God’s child. The Holy Spirit within you affirms that the promises He has made will come to pass. You are His, and He is faithful to finish the work He has begun in you.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You for the seal of the Holy Spirit in my life. Thank You for guaranteeing Your promises and for reminding me that I am Yours. Help me to walk in the assurance of Your love and the strength of Your Spirit every day. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Before You Go
Take a moment today to reflect on the Holy Spirit’s presence in your life. Let it remind you of the promises that are yet to come and the assurance that you belong to God. How does knowing that you are sealed with the Holy Spirit affect your confidence in God's promises for you?
So today, remember: You are sealed. You are His.
Did you miss it? Don’t worry—you can still catch up.
