Jesus Calms the Storm in My Life
Be encouraged by today’s Scripture reflection and prayer.

Today’s Scripture
Mark 4:39–40 (KJV)
“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?”
Reflection
This account amazes me every time I read it. Jesus is asleep on a ship in the middle of a raging storm. Water is likely crashing over the sides, the boat is rocking, and yet He’s resting. Meanwhile, the disciples—panicked and fearful—rush to wake Him, convinced they’re about to die.
They had seen Jesus perform healings and miracles, but this was different. This storm tested their sense of safety, and they didn’t yet grasp the full extent of His power.
Honestly, I get it. I’ve had storms in my life that shook me to my core. Fear creeps in fast when things start to feel out of control. I know Jesus is with me, but sometimes, just like the disciples, I need to be reminded that He’s also in control.
Jesus calms the storm, not just the one in the sky or sea—but the one in me. His presence doesn’t always remove the situation, but it brings a peace that overrides the chaos. Just like the disciples, I’ve woken Him in panic. And just like them, I’ve witnessed Him respond with calm, with authority, and with grace.
I’m learning to trust Him even when the waves are crashing and I can’t see the shore. He hasn’t left the boat. He hasn’t left me. And while I may not feel calm right away, I can hold on to the truth that He’s still Lord over the storm.
Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being with me through every storm. When life feels overwhelming and fear tries to take over, remind me of Your power and presence. Strengthen my faith when it wavers. Teach me to rest in You—even while the winds blow and the waves rise.
I trust You, Lord, to speak peace over my circumstances and my heart.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before You Go
If you're a believer, know this: Jesus is already in your boat. You don’t have to go searching for Him in the storm—He’s right there. And He still calms storms today. That includes the one in your mind, your heart, your home, or your health.
Take a moment to reflect:
Have you trusted Him to calm the storms in your life?
And maybe there's someone you know—someone weathering their own storm right now. Pray for them. Encourage them. Remind them that Jesus calms the storm for all who call on Him.
