Give Thanks To The LORD: The Enduring Goodness of God
In this season of thanksgiving, it's crucial to remind ourselves that thankfulness is an integral part of our worship. One aspect of our thankfulness is because God is so good. I am often reminded as I read throughout scripture, just how good he is. The words of 1 Chronicles 16:34 resonate deeply: "Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his mercy endures forever."
So, what does it mean when we speak of God's goodness? We often associate it with qualities like kindness and doing right by others. But when we think of the goodness of the LORD, it transcends our human understanding. His goodness is not a mere concept; it's an eternal truth.
The Lord is inherently good, and there's no darkness in Him. His intentions are forever pure, and His kindness is showered upon us each and every day. Regardless of the trials we face, His goodness and mercy remain unwavering.
Sometimes, it's easy to become so engrossed in our challenges that we lose sight of His unwavering goodness. We may grapple with pain, sorrow, or overwhelming circumstances, but even in the midst of it all, God's goodness shines through. Our struggles and sorrows do not diminish His goodness; they merely highlight His boundless grace.
This Thanksgiving season, I want to share with you a series of devotionals that will inspire you to shift your focus onto God's enduring goodness and cultivate a spirit of thankfulness. Let's remember to give thanks, not out of mere obligation but out of a profound realization of how truly good and merciful our Lord is.
So, as we journey through this season of gratitude, let's embrace the gift of thankfulness. Let's rekindle our appreciation for the goodness of God, which knows no bounds, and in doing so, find strength and joy even in the midst of life's challenges.
